We all have an energy within us that gets us through each day. Some of us have seen that light dim from a great ray while others have struggled to keep it flickering. Our time together will be spent nurturing that energy by understanding your strengths and successes and often redefining perceived shortcomings. Together, we will work to identify your needs not based on external appearances or perceptions but on your goals and abilities in the here and now. Your light will not remain little.
Though most counseling episodes are weekly for a matter of weeks; its important to consider each situation and client independently. Variables like your availability, goals and even transportation will help us decide. Creating a starting point is most important and only a call away.
Extremely! So much so that if we run into one another outside of the counseling space all you will get from me is a polite smile unless you request more. Your life journey is sacred and will never be trivialized. Despite this upfront declaration, the pangs of fear that may arise through the counseling process are healthy and should always have a space in our time together. I will not get tired of saying it as I will not tire of earning your trust. I do welcome you to include members of your support system in your therapy process as it is appropriate and helpful.
It is different for many people. The stigma around the need for counseling is harmful. We all deserve mental and physical wellness. Topics like trauma, depression, or everyday perceptions of failure are uncomfortable and its normal to feel vulnerable at points during the counseling process. But it shouldn't feel violating and should always feel safe. It will also feel down right exhilarating at times! Counseling begins with a little detail about many things and branches off from there as appropriate for what you want to work on. We can figure out together where to begin.
To me, the benefit of counseling is clear. A proper therapeutic relationship guides us through reconnecting with ourselves and having energy for healthy relationships with others. It helps maintain our humanity which is something always in need, but now particularly. Sometimes we just need an ally from an external perspective to help you connect your dots or, more often, erase the previous connections. If you are feeling less than functional or unfulfilled together we can explore if now is the right time for you.
